Gifts from the heart, while my heart was healing.
In December 2018, I was recovering from pacemaker surgery. I had a box of old sweaters and time on my hands — so I started sewing mittens and giving them as gifts.
Then my best friend Marty asked if I could make her a pair she could text in without freezing her fingers. I searched everywhere for a pattern. Nothing existed. So I designed my own — on my grandmother's vintage sewing machine, in my basement here in Detroit.
Then I got it patented. That's how the Original Sweater Texting Mitten was born.
Today, every pair is still made by hand, one at a time, from upcycled sweaters given a second life. No two pairs are ever alike — and every one carries a little piece of that story.
